Selecting Multiple Files

 

Windows Vista and Windows XP

 

     

Often you'll want to copy, move, delete or open more than one file at a time.  To do this, you need to select multiple files simultaneously.  Here's how:

 

To Select individual files

  1. Hold down the Ctrl key 

  2. Click each file you wish to select (this is called Ctrl-clicking)

NoteYou can deselect a file the same way.

 

To select a group of files or folders

  1. Click the first file in the list

  2. Hold down the Shift key

  3. Click the last file in the list
